I ended up doing a walk-in smog test here today. The employee was very polite and even though he was busy made us all feel important... I love good customer service. I got my test done in under 20 minutes and was back on the road. I will definately take our other car in when we need to get it smogged.
Just got back from there and getting a smog check and certificate was effortless. I would recommend these guys.It was pouring rain, but there was no line, so I drove right into the garage. The guy came right out and started. I was outta there in no more than 15 minutes (since the car passed the exam). He said he'd already sent the cert information to the state, gave me all of the paperwork with certificate, and I was done. I paid $60 - that's the going rate there for cars made after 1995.The magazines in the waiting room are from 2007, so bring your own reading ; )
I have not compared prices to see if this place is better or worse than the others but it cost me $90.00 to leave after testing a 92 Ford Explorer. There was a +$10.00 fee for cars older than 1995;I have no idea why. I will say that the employee that was there was friendly, efficient, fast and generally a step above the usual suspects that I have run into trying to get my car smoged. There was a waiting room in the office with a few chairs. Coffee was available. The place seemed to be clean at least to garage and automotive standards. They also make appointments. Payment by Cash or credit card, they just instituted a no check policy after they received a bum check.All said and done I received good efficient service for maybe a reasonable price. You will have to do the research there. My wife is definitely going there for her next smog. I would give them 5 stars if I new they had a low price. If it is a few dollars more than from what I have seen for test only stations this might be worth it just to have a comfortable place to wait and a smile from the guy who does the work. I would definitely recommend them and will in all likelihood go back there again!
In the past three weeks, we've taken three cars to this little business on the corner of Curtner and Lincoln Avenues for smog tests. One was due to re-registration of a car, and the others were selling and buying a car. It appears to be a one-man operation, but very above board and friendly. They seem to have a fairly steady amount of customers, but in all three cases, I waited less than 15 minutes each time. The guy that has provided service each time was extremely thorough, has fair prices for service, and was very friendly. He mentioned that prior to him taking over that the shop was for repairs, and it had a very poor reputation, which he is now trying to get out from under.If you need a smog test, go see him - he did a great job for us!
