I was initially suspicious of the $75 fee just to do a diagnostic, but Tony was upfront about what he would charge and I could have taken my car elsewhere. I stayed due to the other positive reviews, and I'm glad I did. It turns out my stalling out Saturn needed the EGR valve cleaned, and along with that Tony fixed a broken door lock, changed the oil and checked all of the fluids, checked my brakes and had it all ready in a timely fashion for just over $200. Most importantly he did not try to sell me things I didn't need. I would definitely recommend him.

Yes, I agree with the previous reviews.  I don't know anything about cars, but when Glendale Toyota wanted $900 to fix a thing, we got a recommendation from a friend to go to A1.  Tony looked at the car, explained the problem and why the $900 thing didn't need to be replaced, only the $200 part of the thing.  Told me it would cost $200.  He finished when he said he would, charged what he said he would, explained what he did and why it cost that much.  I would definitely recommend Tony at A1.

I lucked out when A-1 was the closest certified smog check certified mechanic to my house because that was how I decided to go to there. I just moved from New York and bought my first car (used, a 2000 Jetta) so when it failed the smog check I was really lost. Luckily Tony at A-1 walked me through what to do and how to get the state and Volkswagon, to help me out as much as they can. He even rushed to pickup some break pads for me to make sure I didn't have to wait one more day than I had to to get my car. Now whenever I have car trouble, Tony is going to be the first person I turn to.

I've brought my car to Tony a number of times (it's a 1996 Geo with over 150,000 miles on it) and he's always been honest, fair, and forthright. He's extremely professional and, as the other reviewers mentioned, he always explains what he's found, explains what NEEDS to be done vs. what COULD be done, and lets you make your own decision. His prices are good, and the fact that he's open on Saturdays is a real plus for me. You will not go wrong with A1 Auto. Highly recommended, without reservations.
