I was in and out in 10 minutes. The guy is professional and friendly, and his waiting room is great - bansai plants, unusual curios, very fun to sit in. I'd scarcely opened my book and it was time to go. Definitely recommend.
The service was awesome. I was in and out of there in about 10-15 minutes. The owner was very professional, friendly, and personable. I would definitly recommend this place. I will be doing all my smog checks here from now on.
Two years later, another smog test, another excellent experience with the Broadway Smog Station. Yes, it's a hole-in-the-wall, and yes you'll have to make an extra turn (because it's a half-block off Broadway's auto row). But it's quick, friendly and fairly priced. Call ahead to make an appointment and you'll insure you don't have to wait through another customer's test. Total time is less than 15 minutes. Make sure to print out the coupon on their website and bring it with you!
Ryo (the owner) did my car personally and personably. Great service and great conversation. I came in just before closing and he still took me in. What's more he gave me a great deal. I wish I had more cars so I could come back and smog the hell out of em. Highly recommended, ya'll.
Made an appointment to come at 4 PM. Inspection was completed in 25 minutes with no drama. I brought the 55$ coupon and that is what I paid. The guy who worked there was foreign-born and we had a friendly chat about life in the US. All in all, a very good experience.

I've used this smog station three times in the last year, each time there was no wait and the test was performed professionally and very quickly. Make sure you print out the $55 out the door coupon from their website.The only complaint I can think of is that their dart board is getting worn out, time for a new one! :)
I was dubious of my ability to pass - have an exhaust leak near the muffler.. The state doesn't care about anything after the cat, but a big enough leak sucks air into the system and causes you to fail the sniff test for sample dilution. I went here this afternoon just to see how it would go. Rolled up and there was already a car there on the smog machine. 5 minutes later my car was on the smog machine. 10 minutes after that I had a cert. saying I passed. After having spent 7.5 hours at the DMV so far trying to get my car re-registered I really appreciated the speedyness of this part of the process. Now I get to go wait another 2 hours at the DMV to get the tags. :( I totally forgot to bring my coupon with me when I went, and I didn't even mention it, yet I still was only charged the coupon deal. A+. I remember when smog was only like $30 bucks, but really the fact that it only used 15 minutes of my life is worth an extra $25 to me. In 2 years I'll be heading back here.
After reading the reviews here yesterday, I called and made an appointment today. I was early, but he had time then, and started right away. Ryo is still the guy there, and was friendly and quick--I was out of there in less than 15 minutes! With the coupon it was $55 total. Wow. I totally recommend this place for a smog check. I have been taking my cars to Broadway Smog for years...all my neighbors and friends also go here. Bottom line, the owner(Ryo) is VERY hospitable and will take care of your car and explain everything and answer any questions you might have. The price is one of the best in the bay area. He is very efficient and will have your car done quicker than I can write this review. ...THANKS RYO!!
Why is Ryo so nice? Is this place a front or something? No, actually, he is just genuinely nice. I called ahead and he said just to drop in. I got there and he was working on a car already. He gave the owner some good advice on his car, and then got mine going. Once the test was started I was out of there in about 10 minutes, during which time I played darts. The service was good and my car passed smog (which gets this place another star). The only thing I didn't like was that it was a garage, which means it is dirty and fuming (though Ryo turned on an industrial fan to clear the place out). I could make a joke about that being related to some Skinny Puppy enthusiast, but I wont. Go there and get your car smogged.
I didn't make an appointment, I pulled right in and got super fast service. It takes 10 minutes per car so however many cars are in front of you, multiply that by 10 and that's how long it will be until he gets to you. For me, it took 20 minutes from the time I pulled in till the time I left, with one car in front of me. THAT'S FAST. Looking for something to do while you wait? I wouldn't recommend the waiting room, there are only a couple of seats and the magazines are from 2006 or earlier. Grocery outlet is just a block up if you'd like to buy some chips or a drink to tide you over and get some fresh air.
