I have been going to Gary and Glenmoor for years (in their old location!). Honest, quick. I know a ton of people who go here as well. If you want cheap work (probably not reliable) , maybe this is not your spot. But if you want it done right the first time and someone that is willing to work with your budget, this is your place.
I came back to Glenmoor Auto Repair to have my battery and alternator looked at (my battery conked out after the car hadn't been driven for a week or so, which has been a big problem with batteries I've bought at Sears), and they gave me a detailed analysis of what's going on. I also appreciated them not just pushing me to get a new alternator (which is what Sears did) -- in fact they gave me some tips to extend the life of the current one. Well worth the $60 diagnostic fee, and if it does eventually conk out, I'll have them to the work for sure. Glenmoor Auto Repair is also recognized as a Fremont Green Business, implementing sustainable practices that save energy and water, and reduce waste (http://fremont.gov/Bus...).
Gerry is super nice and a no nonsense kinda guy. He is the most honest mechanic I have ever come across so I am sticking with him. Once the warranty runs out on my vehicles they all come here. You would think my 2003 was brand new thanks to these guys!

I had an older GMC truck with a large big block gas guzzling V8. Before selling it I had to get it to pass smog. First, I took it to a Test - Only shop. It failed miserably and the suggestions from the technician didn't help it pass. Next, I took it to a nearby shop and after another $300, and a bunch of new parts that I still doubt were necessary to replace, the results were less than favorable. After a few weeks of frustration, I remembered someone telling me about the difference between a smog only test center and a gold shield test center. Smog only test centers do just that - Smog only. They are not authorized to do ANY types of repairs on your vehicle to get it to pass. The Gold Shield smog centers are the Full Service version of the Smog testers. I found Glenmoor Auto Repair when searching for this kind of Smog tester. I called Gary and although he had a full schedule was able to fit me in. It turns out the truck needed a new catalytic converter and it passed with flying colors the very same day. The cost was reasonable and I would recommend anyone with complicated smog issues or older vehicles to go see Gary first to save them the weeks of frustration that I went through. Bottom line: take your vehicle to Gary and get it fixed right the first time!
I have been using Glenmoor Auto Repair for over a year now. I've been extremely pleased with the quality of care and the quality of customer service I've received. In fact, I haven't had a problem with them in this entire time. I bring in my vehicles for regularly scheduled service or whenever I notice something is problematic. They do the work quickly, and they communicate with me regularly when they discover something. I can always drop off my car in the morning and get it back by the afternoon. They've never had a delay. And they have hours on Saturday as well! Usually I deal with the owner/manager of the shop. But whenever he hasn't been there, the rest of his staff is just as courteous.
