The place to go for your smog check.Fast, clean, friendly, professional and very well-priced. There really is an owner named Joe and he's a mensch.I paid almost double two years ago, in an unpleasant, dirty shop less than a mile away. Save yourself any trouble and go to Joe's.
We went here on a Friday around 11am. He was able to take us right away. There was a waiting area with a tv, chairs, magazines, and coffee.The check took less than 20 minutes, and he has the best prices around. He is wonderful. We will only ever be coming to him from now on.

Five stars plus! I was slightly overwhelmed when locating a station to do a smog check for an out-of-state vehicle that needed to be registered in CA. There are so many to choose from. I couldn't resist visiting Joe's after reading all the amazing reviews. They were spot-on and I was incredibly happy with my experience. Joe was incredibly professional and friendly, but also made the experience painless for someone that had no past knowledge in the smog-check realm. The price was reasonable and once my appointment began, it was very quick. I'll recommend all my friends!
Had an excellent and quick experience here. Arrived at about 11:45 on a wednesday afternoon, and left before noon. Really couldn't ask for a more painless smog testing experience.Joe was friendly and professional, and the price didn't hurt.I'll definitely be coming back here.
It was that time again and there was no other place that would beat Joe's price or service. I waited 4 days (they were closed for the holidays) to get my car in there and when I did, I was not disappointed! Joe was very polite and my whole visit took only about 15 minutes. I will be seeing Joe next year.
joe's the man! super nice guy and he does the check himself. overall, happy with service and price.tip: his informative website updates you if everything is in order or if systems are down and you can call in advance to check as well if he's open.
The reviews are consistent with my experience with Joe. He truly understands customer service, and at his price point, you get the best of both worlds! The first time I came in, there was a wait, but he gives you an appointment card and says he would honor the time on it when you came back. When I came back, he looked at my car and warned me that I had the yellow "check engine" light on which would be an automatic failure. So I went to my local Toyota dealership to fix it and told them what Joe told me. They told me he was a really honest guy b/c most people would take your money, run the smog test (knowing you would fail), and then tell you to come back after you got the engine light fixed and charge you again. So, I went back to Joe's, and my car failed b/c I hadn't run my car enough to re-set the computer system (I thought it had run enough mile but Joe told me it had to be freeway miles). Joe told me he would just charge me for the price w/o the certificate ($21), and when I came back, he would just charge me for the cert (about $9). That was so cool!! He could've totally taken my money since the car failed and charged me the full price again after I ran the car enough to re-set the computer. All this to say, I am glad people like Joe are in business, and I wish more establishments could be like Joe's. I am definitely coming back next time and will tell all my friends about this place.
The only place I'll ever go for a smog. Even if I move.Joe's price is great and his service is even better. I had recently had a check engine light on and he gave me (free) advice on how to make sure it was cleared before the test.Deservedly, he stays busy. You can wait or get put on the list to come back later. As far as I know he does not take call ahead reservations, so to speak. If you want to get taken care of as quickly as possible, go on a rainy day.

I just had my car and my wife's car smog checked here today. Great price and super friendly service! They have free wi-fi and the waiting area is also well stocked with current magazines. I'm definitely coming here next time.
Great fast professional service. I was in and out within 1 hr even with two people who came in before I did. The total price came out to be $32, and I did not have to mention the coupon at all since he already applied the discount. I highly recommend Joe's and will be coming back to him whenever I need a smog check.
Joe was polite, professional, efficient and priced below others. He doesn't take reservations, but his website had a fairly accurate wait-time counter. If you need it done, I highly recommend Joe's.
I originally went to Joe's, because it was the best price I could find. Joe's honors the coupon now so you don't even have to print it. For my car, it was $32. I've been here multiple times (twice in the past year, as my car was totaled & replaced). It's always quick, clean, cheap, and easy. It's so rare to find someone these days (especially in Los Angeles) who is really trying and really putting a lot into taking care of his customers. This guy has a comfortable waiting area and even has WiFi for his customers. If only there were more business owners like this. I'd recommend Joe's to anyone, and I will never go anywhere else.
Whatever good things other reviews said proved to be absolutely true. Joe is a really nice guy, does the job well and quickly, and is completely inexpensive considering location and quality of the job. Four thumbs up for this guy

This place is great! I've been coming here for several years now. I think it might be the cheapest place to get a smog check in L.A. Equally important every time I drive up (appointments are not needed) the owners are as courteous and helpful as possible. There is never a long wait. They give you all your paperwork, explain your smog results to you and submit your smog certification for you. It couldn't be an easier, more pleasant or affordable experience!
Joe runs one of the best smog check stations around. Honest, easy to talk to, looks out for the customers. Service is great and his prices are the best in town. Don't waste your time with the other places, go to Joe's and you will not go anywhere else.Parking can be a bit tricky and you may have to wait but it is worth it.
Great price! someone else quoted me $45 or something and the whole smog check, plus certificate etc was $32 for me at Joe's. He's quick, nice, polite and professional. Highly recommended!
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! He not only was friendly and had a clean and nice office, but went beyond the call of duty and explained to me what was going on. Not only that, but he pointed out some issues with my tires that I may want to get checked out.I highly reccomend him!
I think all of the other reviews already reflect my opinion of Joe's!There was nobody in front of me, and I was out in about 30 minutes. Joe was friendly and gave me the discount price automatically. He made some small talk, but it wasn't forced at all!I'm new to California, and he even explained the smog test process in a way that I could understand.I don't think I will ever go anywhere else for smog tests!
Joe's Smog Check was so good, I want to have more smog checks just so I can have that good feeling you get from receiving the rare combination of great service at a very low price. Facts: 3 cars were ahead of me when I arrived. My wait was 23 minutes. It costs $32. My results were electronically sent to the DMV.
Excellent! Just came back from Joes. I went at 6:15 (they close at 7pm) and just had to wait about 20 minutes for the two people in front of me. There is a little lounge area with 4 seats, a TV (was off, nice) and magazines (including the latest MacWorld, nice!). When my turn was up, I just handed Joe (I assume) the paper from the DMV and the coupon (printed from the website), and 10-15 minutes later it was done.Joe also electronically sent the info to the DMV, so if I didn't also need to send in my insurance info, I would have been done. Excellent customer service (finally, perfect English and explanations of what's going on/pricing from an auto shop), quick in and out, and cheap.
Price, Speed, Quality. Normally you have to pick two of the three.Not here. Joe is fast, he does a good job, he charges a reasonable price and he's really a very nice and courteous guy! He also keeps his shop very clean.I came without an appointment, and I only had to wait 10 minutes, and Joe did my smog check in about 15 minutes!Luckily I live near this shop, but even if I didn't, I would go out of my way to come here.
I cannot recommend this place enough!! JOE is a very friendly & courteous guy. He runs his own shop very well. I dropped by the place (w/o an appointment) to get a smog check, and he told me to return at 3:15 and he was ready to take my car at the exact time. VERY timely. It is also the best deal to get a smog check too. $32! Everywhere else I called quoted me $50 and up, and not to mention super rude over the phone.COME HERE FOR A SMOG CHECK FOR SURE
After calling several places and being quoted prices that ranged from $54 (with a discount) to $78, I decided to do a quick internet search for discount smog checks. I'm so glad I did!I have to admit that I was initially skeptical when my husband called about the discount price. I was even more skeptical when the person who answered the phone offered to honor the coupon price from the website even though we hadn't printed out the coupon. That doesn't happen often...usually we are being nickeled and dimed. Anyway, we had been forewarned that he had two cars there already so the wait would be about 1/2 hour. By the time we got there from the DMV it was much less than that. From start to finish, Joe was amazingly gracious, even taking the time to explain the process to my curious daughter. I half expected to have one of our cars fail just so we would be charged a second time to make up for the discounted price. Not so! You can come back within 7 days to have the vehicle reinspected. Sure, there are no bells and whistles, and parking is limited, but we didn't mind. Thanks, Joe's Smog Check, for making an unpleasant task much more tolerable, and for running an honest business.

I mapped Joe' s Smog Check today and drove to his shop. Now, don't expect nice leather seats, with drinks and a cozy room. Joe ' s Smog Check is a small garage in North Hollywood just North of the 134 freeway. The main point is he did the job and he did it right! A+++ When I drove there, Joe (yes he is the owner) came out to my car and asked for my name. He already had a car in the garage but he asked me to come back in about 1/2 hour. It was lunch time, so I went to the local McDs 5 minutes away to pass the time. I return to Joe's and within seconds, it was my turn and I was in and out in 20 minutes flat!! I have smogged my car throughout the city and I have to say Joe is A NUMBER ONE! Why? 1. Excellent Customer Service - He acknowledges his customers immediately (you're not just waiting and waiting - he WILL come out to your car to say hi and take your name.) 2. Small facility but clean and it's a smog test folks but there are some chairs to sit down with magazines and a TV to pass the time. 3. Low, Low, LOW price!!! Go to his website and print out a coupon before you go. You know, I hate smog checks as well as most people do too. But Joe really makes this process easy and to the point. Kind of like seeing your dentist for your 6 month cleaning - you get on the chair, he cleans you, gives you some advice and BOOM you're outta there!! That is Joe 's Smog Check!! Thanks Joe!!
Came here to do my smog check and dropped by after work around 5:30pm. There was one car ahead of me so I had to wait about 15 minutes. Joe was very friendly, informative, and quick. I will definitely come here for future smog checks! Don't forget to print out the coupon on his website!
This place made getting a smog check so easy. The only situation is that you're competing against all these cars who are doing the same thing and quite frankly, they don't fit. Needless to say, I walked over to some tacos stands in the area (gross!) and by the time I came back, it was all done. The smog check was transmitted directly to the DMV and voila, I could move on with my life.
I was in and out in like 15 minutes. I printed a coupon off the website and my total bill was $30. The guy at Joe's submitted my smog cert directly to the DMV via the internet and then I went home, went online, and completed my registration renewal. A true no hassle experience.
