I came in again for a long overdue  (3000 miles overdue!!) oil change on Saturday morning. The service took a little longer this time but I'll cut them some slack as it WAS a Saturday morning, when everyone else in the Sunset and Richmond were trying to get their cars fixed up.I was asked about an engine flush again as like my last visit. This time though, I totally got suckered into it when the mechanic came out and asked me when was the last time I got one done and I looked at him sheepishly and replied, "Never?" He then showed me what my engine fluid looked like (black tar) and what engine fluid SHOULD look like (translucent pink?) and said I should probably get one. Sigh, tack on a hundred bucks. Hey, I guess if it's true what the other reviewers say about this place ripping you off, at least these guys are consistent with what they are trying to rip me off with!I still thought the service was really good, however, I am docking one star because of their FAH-REEZING waiting room!! I went in this past Saturday, when all the weather gurus were predicting SNOW would fall in SF after 30 years and there was no heater so I sat there for an hour thinking I might not only get an oil change and engine flush but also frostbites!!

Came in on a Saturday morning for a smog check to get my out-of-state car certified--it was a swift, affordable process.  The service folks are friendly but expeditious.  The waiting room is unattractive, but since you don't need to wait very long, it's quite forgivable.

Although the waiting area is pretty unattractive, the service is so fast that it barely matters. These guys always come rushing up to my car with a smile and a clipboard. They never suggest unnecessary repairs, and require very little paperwork.

My preferred provider for oil changes.  Quick service if there is no line. Reasonable prices for oil change, i think i had a smog check done here as well - and was satisfied. As far as their other services go - im not sure if im sold at this point.

This is a good and economal place for basic oil change (especially if you have a coupon downloaded from online or by mail).  I used to take my car here all the time, but lately I decided I wanted to have more of a full inspection of fluids, etc., during oil changes.  This is not a knock on this place, they were good and nice people overall.

Good honest experience for my smog check unlike their rotten brothers on Fell St.

Oil change, front brakes, rear brakes, and smog check.  Been there a few times and no complaints.  I did full brakes, as well - one time new rotors, one time resurfaced.  Cheap, relatively fast, no problems. They even do tire plugs - pretty cheap. The trick is to walk over and peep into the garage ever so often to keep them on their toes.  And the key is to make eye contact.  But it's not necessary. No frills, let's get the job done mentality. I think I paid 240 for the front brakes and 260 for the rear.  Done it a few times too - all good, no problems.  They did put in that sensor that supposed to tell me when the pads were up, but it never went off - $35.I wouldn't say do anything electrical in here - but the easy stuff like brakes, oil change, etc.  I think they're good to go.If you have a big job (over $500) try flashing cash to get a discount.  If they say no, then just put the cash back in the wallet and flip out the card - they usually bend at that moment.  It worked for me.

I was having some trouble with a squeaky wheel and brought it here to get it looked at.  JR, not sure if he is the supervisor/manager or not, came up to me, asked me about the problem, and took it in to the shop to take a look.  5 minutes later, the noise is gone.  I drove it around the block a few times and everything was great.I went back to the shop, asked him what I owed and he said, "Don't worry about it, just bring it here next time you need service on it."What a guy.

2.5 starsCan't judge the quality of the oil change but it was $31ish without the coupon (published after I went in). Pretty quick but as my friend warned me, they'll try to upsell you on a filter change, etc. Restroom kind of dirty, waiting room sparse, but if it keeps the price down, whatever.Ask them to check your tires- they did mine and took out some air since the tires were overinflated.

$27.99 for an oil change on my Honda SUV.  Took them 15 minutes.  They brought out my dirty air filter and asked me if I wanted it replaced.  I told them that I did it myself and they were fine with it.  Not pushy at all.  Fast, cheap, not pushy.

This place is the bomb they are fast and really do a good job on my oil changes and they even leave the car the way I drove it in running and ready to go with the nothing changed. Some places move your steering wheel and seat adjustments this place does not!

Quality Tune Ups is a no frills place that you can pull in with no reservations for an Oil Change or Smog Check. I have been coming here for years when the price of the Oil Change was $19.99, and as of today, 9/21/07, the price is $23.99 with a cut out coupon. At 8:56 in the morning I was sixth in line, but I never worry because these guys jam. I squeezed myself into their waiting room and grabbed a 2005 Sports Illustrated and watched the O.J. updates on the Boob Tube. They have a 19" color TV set on CNN, a water cooler with really cold water, and seats left over from a garage sale. Don't get too comfy because within 13 minutes my ride was ready!I have also had a Smog Check done here and  it does take longer than an oil change, but two blocks North on 19th there is a Starbucks, Sushi take out, Noodles, a couple of Banks and a couple of Chinese Markets to keep you busy. The employees speak just enough English to make you feel comfortable, and they all are very friendly and wear smiles.

I feel pressured to post a review so this is all that comes to mind. Last night, I smelled my brakes burning. So I dropped into this super humble shop with no appt and before my car was in park, a mechanic was at my window with an order form. Fast and friendly. But candid - borderline insulting. He laughed at me when I told him about my brakes burning.  Apparently, it's impossible? Anyway, 3 stars for the convenience factor, but don't expect polished floors or cushy seats in the waiting area.

Got a smog check here and with no appointment, was out in about 20 minutes or so.  Price is standard with about everyone else.  Key here is they were open Sundays when almost every other place is closed.
