Well, I certainly had a different experience there today than the gents prior.12:30p Sat afternoon, end of month, no waiting. Test-only sites tend to be busy. Nice. I had a coupon from http://smogtips.com, but I didn't need it. It was $41.70 (4cyl.) + 8.25 for the cert, which was a little less than what I had heard from other places for my vehicle. Nice. She jumped in my 5-spd, and and got it over the bump into position no problem. I wonder if there's a height / leg-reach issue? I'm only a bit taller than her, so my seat's up almost all the way. Ever try to drive a stick from what feels like the back seat, hanging on to the wheel for leverage? Sucks. Mayhap I'll suggest a thick pillow join her tools next time I go by... Anyway, she buzzed through the test quickly but thoroughly - the visual inspection was much more than a flashlight wave under the hood. It passed with flying colors, which was lovely. I had previously failed miserably due to what turned out to be a "lazy" pre-cat oxygen sensor (%$#%$# brass nuts!!), which is why I had to find a test only station for my re-test. I got a big smile and congratulations, specifically for working on/fixing my own vehicle. Nice.
