These guys are great!  This is about a two weeks over due but i had to make i added my comment.So I called to check hours and open availability, they let me know immediately that I could in that day without an appointment.  This was great for me since I needed my smog check right away.  Once I arrived, they ushered me into the smog check bay.  Both the guys were super nice and helpful. We even had a good couple laughs! But most importantly, smog star was very thorough with their check process. I highly recommend!!!!

Super fast service!  I was putting off getting a smog check, but it was definitely weighing on me  I literally saw the sign as I was heading to the 10 and pulled in on a whim.  Extremely friendly, quick and easy service! In and out in 15 minutes tops.

fast, in and out in 15 minutes.  the workers were friendly.  i had called ahead and mentioned the rate of 29.95 plus fees (40 total) and they gave me that without a coupon.

I have had a lot of bad smog checkers give me one rate and then raise it when I arrive.  I hate that.  I think it's a bad business practice for everyone from mechanics to dry cleaners to prostitutes.  It usually activates my rage and I have to leave.  I called this place and the guy told me "$40 out the door, including DMV fees."  Now when I got there, another fellow helped me and he initially wrote the estimate for what I guess is their $60 "rack rate." But when I said I'd called an hour ago and they said $40, he didn't even hesitate to revise the price.  Other mechanics (as well as dry cleaners and prostitutes) should take a lesson from this guy and stand by their quoted prices!Also, I think the whole thing took 15 minutes and they have moderately cushy chairs to wait in.  The guys were all super-friendly and courteous too.  I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend. For the record, it does appear that for a standard smog test, $40 (including the DMV fees) is about as low as you can really go in LA. A lot of places (although not Smog Star) require a coupon for that rate OR their stated price doesn't include the DMV transmission fee--so be sure and ask before you go.  One exception to this appears to be Joe's Smog Check in North Hollywood but I couldn't confirm their stated all-inclusive price of $32 because they were closed in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.  But that's another place to check for a good price.

I initially called to receive a quote for my vehicle by giving my year and model. They were the most affordable I came to realize after shopping around.Made Smog Checks completely painless. When I drove up a younger gentleman asked me for my paperwork in which I forgot to bring, but they took care of it without. Ran my car for approximately 20 minutes. During the interim I was asked if I wanted water or coffee, I was offered a seat on the couch and was told I could even watch T.V The whole process was super fast. Dead on accurate with pricing and the gentlemen that run the place are SUPER professional and hospitable. I would completely recommend this spot over ANY other in Los Angeles. And mind you this is coming from an LA native that has lived here their entire life. Thank you Smog Star!
