My registration due date was swiftly approaching and I had not yet completed my smog check, which I was convinced I needed to get before I could re-register. I pass by this place a lot and had good reviews here so I went in. They were friendly and helpful off the bat and made me feel comfortable. I went to sit down and wait the approximated 30 minutes for the smog test and was almost immediately called back, the guys at the shop were discussing it and realized because my car was still new I didn't need a smog test! They could have definitely gotten off with making a buck and not telling me and these days, you really need to appreciate those who don't. I'll be back when I do need that smog test, or any other maintenance issue.

The people were very nice and made everything easy. The cost was $49 for a smog check, which is very reasonable. The smog check ws done in less than 30 mins, even during the lucnh hour rush. I will now get all my smog checks here.
Went here to find out what my check-engine-light was on about. Two days, two oxygen sensors and $400 later they tell me I will have to replace the Catalytic converter at about another $1,200. Well the boy wasn't having it so we took it to his favorite shop, you know the one on Turquoise street? Well they agree without checking it that the TX street shop was right, except for the price. I got my Cat and four spark plugs replaced at under $900 and done the same day I dropped it off. So comparatively TX street gets only 3 stars. But the service was very good, and on point. Juan explains everything very clearly and works hard to get the problems solved. The other shop just worked harder and were able to find a more inexpensive solution. I will still take my car there for general maintenance - if I am pressed for time.
This is a gas station with the repair shop too, and when i found my battery dead after getting gas they gladly helped me out. now ive been to them 3 times and every time they are very fast and friendly. no bullshi**ing me either, which is a plus with auto mechanic guys. the owner guy is always there and is funny. i think his name is juan? not sure but hes always wearing khaki slacks with a nice shirt. located in north park- across the street from arco and mcdonalds- its quick, easy, and i think they do smog checks too.
everyone needs a good mechanic, especially you ladies out there (and others who know nearly nothing about cars like myself). texas street might not look like much, but they have been my trusted mechanic for almost 6 years and have never done me wrong. I have sent many people to them and so far no one has had a single complaint.Juan is the manager who always (very sweetly) remembers me. and when I can't afford to tackle all the things wrong with my car, he very father-like tells me which are the most important that need to be taken care of first. he has everything retained in his computer too so when I bring the car in for a tune up and an oil change, he tells me "no, silly girl, you only need an oil change". you don't even need an appt, just bring the car in at 9ish and they'll call you when it's ready to rock.
