I've been coming to Mike and Alan at Tunecraft since the mid 1990's, when a friend recommended them. As a woman, I always felt that some mechanics were trying to take advantage of the fact that I don't know didly-squat about cars. But not here at Tune Craft! I feel very comfortable here and their prices are very reasonable. My whole family now patronizes them. You will love coming here!

Tune Craft is so reliable its not even funny. I won't bring my car anywhere else. I trust these guys more than I trust my Dad to fix my car--and he was a mechanic. Rates are reasonable, but the money doesn't concern me. I just want honesty. Before finding them, I went to all sorts of places who would write up huge lists of stuff that was wrong with my car. These guys don't bother. They tell me straight-up if my breaks could go one more oil change before needing replacement. They care about my bottom line more than any other mechanics I've met. Everyone I've told about this place has become a Tune Craftie for Life. They even have a key drop so you can drop off your car when they are closed. Very convenient.
I've been going here since I was 16 years old (13 years and counting!) I have ventured off to other auto service providers following after a coupon or advertised special but nothing has ever lived up to this place. In the past when I've had major repairs and decided to shop around, nobody could come close to their price. I like that when I go in for service, Mike and Allan remember me like an old friend. Personally, the most important value in an auto repair shop to me is 'trust'. If I can't trust a place, I can't feel good about having work done on my vehicle, regardless of the price I'm paying. I can't count how many times I've gone into another shop using one of their "loss-leader coupons" for an oil change or tire service when I've been told my car needed a laundry list of repairs. I always take the laundry list to Mike and Allan who disprove half of what was recommended and determine the other half is not as urgent as the last shop made it seem. You won't ever pay for service you don't need at Tune Craft. This place has a key-drop, which I recommend using. It's best to get your car in early for the quickest turn around, as this place is very popular and can get really busy on certain days.
I have been taking my 11 year old truck to these guys for about 4 years. When you find a good auto shop you stick with them - and I will never go anywhere else besides Tune Craft in La Mesa. Alan and Mike are great; honest, friendly, and they take care of you. In addition to the regular maintenance (oil change, rotate tires) on my truck - over the years they have installed a new alternator, worked on the brakes, muffler, etc. when I've needed it. I trust them and they are fairly priced.
I will never, ever, EVER go anywhere else. Alan and Mike are honest, friendly, and so bloody reasonable in price it's insane. First time I took my Nissan in, they quoted me a particular price for a small-ish repair. I was totally fine with the quote and went on my merry way expecting my car to be done by the end of the day (I dropped off at 8am, was expecting it to be done right near closing at 5pm). They called me before 11am telling me my car was done, and even though the part cost them more than they originally thought it would, they honored the quote they'd given me. I was shocked, to say the least. I took my car in again today, and not only were they done in less than a half hour -- they did the small repair for FAR less than I expected. I love this place. The quality of work is tremendous, and they do it with a smile -- and without sucking your wallet dry, either!! Best auto shop, EVER.
My "regular" mechanic (BMW/Audi service facilty) recommended Tune Craft for routine maintenance. These guys are great -- friendly, super honest, good prices. We've taken all of our cars there now and recommended them to many other people, too. They even have a nice little waiting area where you can read comfortably while you wait for your car.
