It's a ghetto smog check station next to ghetto Chanos. Both are dirty, quick, and legit.
I am a student at USC and needed a place to go. The owner was so helpful and so nice. It is nice to do business with a good person. I highly recommend this place!! Plus I didn't have to wait!
this guy is hilarious and really nice. I paid $60 at another shop in downtown, but they couldn't tell me how to fix it. My friends at USC recommended this place, so I went. James told me exactly was what wrong, I fixed the problem, my car passed, and he automatically sent my papers to the DMV. Yeahh... I should've come here in the first place, would've saved money and the hassle. he says USC stands for Ultimate Smog Center... LOL
James is a good man and friendly. I didn't pass smog the first time, but went back the next day after warming up the engine properly, as James instructed, and the next day I passed! James is a straight up guy and discloses the total cost without hiding anything. By the way, my test was more for a pre-1996 vehicle that requires evap test, which costs $10 more. So, many companies advertise $40 or $50, but really it depends on the year of your vehicle. James is fast and convenient and is fair. I would use him again.
Just went there. No wait. They guy was like you're here for a smog test right? He was really nice. I passed! Whoohoo! WIll come back. Location is convenient for USC/Downtown
Its really close to USC and the service is quick and easy. James is a friendly guy and you can always talk to him if any concern about cars.
Came here with a old 94 camry last year. The owner told me if it failed, I could come and take the test again once for free.Passed the first time :) convenient location, not much waiting, quick and easy.
I came to this destination out of convenience and proximity. I pass it on my way to and from work. It looks like a shack or a junkyard from the outside and well, also from the inside. The garage is dirty and small, but it is a smog testing center, so what more can a person expect? Despite the appearance, USC SMOG OH MY GOD!I had such an enjoyable 20 minutes at this test-only center. My car is an oldschool luxury vehicle, complete with exhaustion problems. I knew this smog test was going to be a challenge. James L, the main guy, came to my immediate assistance. Despite his accent, he explained everything kindly and in detail (but not with TOO much detail). He tested my car and at first it failed. However he proceeded to test it again, and James made it pass. He said it was only because the car needed to warm up, but I don't care. James is a savior and gave 100% effort. Thank you USC SMOG and thank you James L.! **Note that although the address says Figueroa, the shop is actually on 30th Street in between Figueroa and Flower.
